My daughter wrote this poem many years ago while going through some tough times as a teenager. We did take action and put her in a drug and alcohol treatment facility. It probably did save her life. She is now a successful chef, engaged, building a house, happy with life, and lives right next to us.
So what does this have to do with the law of attraction?
At the time, we knew we had to do something and knew very little about drug treatment. From the moment we knew we had to take action, it was less than 24 hours before she was off to a facility. Things just showed up for us. People that we knew who had had similar problems began calling us.
Was this the law of attraction at work? You have to be the judge.
In the deepest hours of the night. You were there to calm my fright.
You’d lie with me until the demons went away,
Often times until the brake of day;
And Daddy did you ever know that you’re my hero
Though I thought you were big and bad always going away,
I felt hurt
Not remembering our games of supper and dessert.
Oh, Daddy, did you ever know that you’re my hero?
There came a day when you stopped going away,
Trying to be all a father can be.
Though I pushed you away, you always said you loved me.
Daddy, did you ever know that you’re my hero?
You had to watch me fall apart,
Why did I have to let my drinking start?
Daddy, did you ever know that you’re my hero?
Wondering where I am,
You stayed awake to all hours of the night.
For me to come home drunk and start a fight.
Oh, Daddy, did you ever know that you’re my hero?
The time came when you hung your head in shame.
For my drinking came to drugging, and I held you to blame.
Daddy, did you ever know that you’re my hero?
Many nights I almost died even when I tried,
You supported me the best you could, keeping all your pain inside.
Daddy, did you ever know that you’re my hero?
The point came where I wasn’t the same as the little girl from years before.
My last hospital stay, I shoved you away
The hurt stabbed you to the core.
Oh, Daddy, did you ever know that you’re my hero?
It was the hardest day
When you and mom decided to send me away.
Now treatment is where I stay,
And Daddy, did you ever know that you’re my hero?
My drinking and drugging I used
To try and hide
All the pain I held inside.
Daddy, did you ever know that you’re my hero?
If you didn’t send me away
And still listened while I lied,
Daddy, I would have died.
You are my hero.
